RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT RESOLUTION No. 2022/151 accepting and declaring certain roads as county roads (Wells Road and South Levee Access Road), Bethel Island Bridge Replacement Project No. 0662-6R4043-02, as recommended by the Public Works Director, Bethel Island area. (District III)

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

Wells Road and South Levee Access Road were constructed as part of the Bethel Island Bridge Replacement Project No. 0662-6R4043-02. The height of the new bridge and the grade change of the roadway approach to it necessitated the construction of these two roads to maintain access to the local businesses and private roadways. Property rights were acquired in 2009 and 2010 as part of the bridge project and the Board of Supervisors accepted the improvements as complete in 2011. It was recently discovered that these roads were not formally accepted into the County Maintained Roads log.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The roads will not be part of the County Maintained Roads system and the County will not be eligible for State gas tax funds.
