RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #26-883-28 with Rodney J. Chan, DPM, an individual, in an amount not to exceed $540,000 to provide podiatry services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers for the period from June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract will result in contractual service expenditures of up to $540,000 over a 3-year period and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

Due to the limited number of specialty providers available within the community, CCRMC and Health Centers rely on contracts to provide necessary specialty health services to their patients. CCRMC has contracted with Rodney J. Chan, M.D., for podiatry specialty services since May 1, 1988.

This contract meets the social needs of the County’s population by providing podiatry services at CCRMC and Health Centers.

On May 22, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-883-26 (as amended by Administrative Amendment #26-883-27), with Rodney J. Chan, DPM, in an amount not to exceed $540,000, to provide podiatry services at CCRMC, for the period through May 31, 2021.

In August 2018, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Administrative Amendment #26-883-27 to correct a typo in the contract rates for podiatry services at CCRMC and Health Centers with no change in the payment limit of $540,000, and with no change in the original term of June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2021

Approval of Contract #26-883-28 will allow this contractor to continue to provide podiatry services through May 31, 2024.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, this contractor will not be able to provide podiatry services to CCRMC patients.
