APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to submit the Contra Costa County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) 2021-2022 Area Plan Update for services under the Older Americans Act (OAA) and other State funded programs to the California Department of Aging (CDA) and AUTHORIZE the Board of Supervisors Chair to sign the Letter of Transmittal.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal Impact.

BACKGROUND:

The Employment and Human Services Department Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is responsible for providing services to older adults and caregivers through the OAA and other funding sources administered by the California Department on Aging. Under the terms of its contract with CDA, the AAA is responsible for conducting a needs assessment and resulting Area Plan every four years. The Board approved the 2020-2024 Area Plan on August 4, 2020. On an annual basis, the AAA is obligated to provide annual updates to the four year plan. The update to the plan informs the CDA and the general public on any changes to service units and goals and objective. The 2021-2022 Area Plan update is vetted through a public hearing and signed by the Chair of the Contra Costa Advisory Council on Aging. The Council members considered and approved the plan on March 17, 2021.
