RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County contract #76-630-3 in the amount of $1,214,000 with Hank Sun Medical Corporation, for the period from June 1, 2020 through September 30, 2022 for the provision of anesthesiology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is 100% funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On July 30, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-630-1 with Hank H. Sun, M.D., for the provision of anesthesiology services including consultation, clinic coverage, training, and medical and/or surgical procedures at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period from October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2022.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Effective June 1, 2020, the Contractor has changed legal status from that of an individual to a corporation. The Contractor will continue to provide anesthesiology services under the corporation name with no change in the contract payment limit or in the term of the original agreement. Therefore, in accordance with General Conditions Paragraph 5. (Termination and Cancellation) of the Contract, the Department and Contractor have agreed to cancel Contract #76-630-2 and enter into a new Contract to recognize the Contractor’s change in legal status for the period June 1, 2020 through September 30, 2022.

Approval of Contract #76-630-3 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide anesthesiology service to CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers through September 30, 2022.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers will not have access to Contractor’s services.
