RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve Appropriation and Revenue Adjustment No. 5064 authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount of $36,586 from the Department of Information Technology (0147) to Public Works ISF Fleet Services (0064) for the purchase of one Ford Escape vehicle for use by the Network Services Division.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action increases appropriations in the Fleet Internal Services Fund (0064) and reduces appropriations in the Department of Information Technology (0147). (100% General Fund)

BACKGROUND:

The Network Services Division of the Department of Information Technology routinely transports IT equipment from one location to another. Most often, the equipment is contained in numerous boxes and is bulky will not fit into one of the County’s sedans. Staff must then make several trips or may opt to use their own vehicle. Both options are unacceptable. The Ford Escape is a mid-size SUV with features such as second row folding seats allowing for more cargo capacity and has a power liftgate for hands-free operating which will assist staff to safely transport fragile equipment

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the Department of Information Technology will not be able to provide an appropriate vehicle for the Network Services Division to efficiently perform their jobs.
