RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment No. 5060 authorizing new revenue from the California Department of Education (CDE) in the amount of $406,974 (Amendment #3) in the Employment and Human Services Department, Community Services Bureau (0589), for the Alternative Payment Childcare Program.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action is to adjust estimated revenues and appropriated expenditures based on additional state funding approved by the California Department of Education for child day care aid.

BACKGROUND:

This board order is to approve the estimated revenues and appropriated expenditures based on additional state funding approved by the California Department of Education, for the Alternative Payment Childcare Program to support emergency childcare due to COVID-19.




CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Appropriations and estimated revenues will not be properly reflected in the FY19/20 budget.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

The Employment and Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services,   
including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
