RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Library, a purchase order with Integrated Archive Systems in an amount not to exceed $119,357, and an End User License and Support Agreement with Palo Alto Networks, Inc., for firewall equipment and support for the period June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The funds for this purchase will be covered entirely by the Library's budget.

BACKGROUND:

The Library’s current firewall doesn’t provide adequate protection against breaches. As a result, The Library is currently using a loaner firewall from Palo Alto Networks. This firewall was recommended by the County’s Department of Information Technology, and has been working sufficiently since its inception. That said, The Library would like to move forward with purchasing the firewall.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

The purchase must be done through a third party reseller, Integrated Archive Systems (IAS). By executing the Palo Alto Networks End User License Agreement, the County will agree to indemnify Palo Alto Networks from third party claims arising out of claims for taxes attributable to the County in connection with this transaction.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Library will not have sufficient protection from security breaches.
