RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #26-492-20, containing mutual indemnification, with Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, LLC, a limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed $1,370,000, to provide physician medication order services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers patients, for the period June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded by 100% General Fund. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On May 22, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-492-19 with Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, LLC, to provide remote entry of physician medication orders from the CCRMC including reviewing and entering all medication orders into the Customer’s Pharmacy Information System, resolving all incomplete or questionable orders submitted by County Pharmacist, providing clinical support to hospital staff and conducting daily briefings with the Director of Pharmacy, for the period from June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2020.

Approval of Contract #26-492-20 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide remote entry of physician medication orders through May 31, 2022. This Contract includes mutual indemnification.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring after-hours medication orders at CCRMC will not have access to Contractor’s services.
