RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE Fiscal Year 2019/20 Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment No. 5000 authorizing the use of General Fund Reserves (0005) in the amount of $8,819,683 and appropriate it for inmate medical and mental health care services and related infrastructure at the Martinez Detention Facility.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$8,819,686, 100% General Purpose Revenue/Reserves.

BACKGROUND:

This action funds 13.0 FTE new positions; 4.0 FTE in the Sheriff's Office and 9.0 FTE in the Health Services Department to augment medical and mental health services provided to inmates at the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). In addition, funding is made available for certain related infrastructure improvements at the MDF.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Funding will not be made available for additional positions and capital improvements at the Martinez Detention Facility.
