RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Cancellation Agreement #74-572-2 with Suzanne K Tavano, Ph.D., a self-employed individual, effective at the close of business on May 31, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by State Mental Health Realignment funds.

BACKGROUND:

In August 2018, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed #74-572 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #74-572-1) with Suzanne K. Tavano, Ph.D. to provide consultation and technical assistance regarding Managed Care, for the period from September 1, 2018 through August 31, 2019.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Effective June 1, 2019, through an open process which involved extensive community input, Dr. Tavano, was selected as the Director of Behavioral Health/Mental Health for Contra Costa County. She has accepted the job offer as a County employee, which results in the Department's need to cancel the current contract with her.

In accordance with General Conditions Paragraph 5 (Termination), of the Contract, the Department and Contractor have agreed to a mutual cancellation of this Contract. Approval of Cancellation Agreement #74-572-2 will accomplish this termination.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the Department will not be able to cancel the current contract with Dr. Tavano.
