RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract Amendment Agreement #24–933–39 with Crestwood Behavioral Health, Inc., a corporation, effective May 1, 2019, to amend Contract #24–933–37 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #24-933-38) to increase the payment limit by $443,311, from $8,389,976 to a new payment limit of $8,833,287, with no change in the term of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded by 92% Mental Health Realignment and 8% Mental Health Services Act. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

This contract meets the social needs of County’s population in that it provides subacute skilled nursing care services for County’s Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) and neurobehavioral clients.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

On May 22, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-933-37 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #24-933-38) with Crestwood Behavioral Health, Inc., to provide sub-acute skilled nursing care for SPMI and neurobehavioral clients for the period from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

Approval of Contract Amendment #24-933-39 will allow the Contractor to provide additional services through June 30, 2019.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Behavioral Health Services Division/Mental Health places clients at Contractor's facilities licensed for various levels of care. If the contract is not approved, a significant number of mentally ill young adults and adults may be displaced to the community without the mental health services they require.
