RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Department, a purchase in an amount not to exceed $140,000 to procure one (1) replacement Ford F450 hazardous materials recovery truck.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Hazardous Materials enforcement money will cover the costs of this vehicle. No other County funds will be required.

BACKGROUND:

The current ’92 Ford F350 is designed for access in hard to reach areas. It is equipped with a winch, crane, and lift gate to aid in the recovery and removal of large containers of hazardous materials. The proposed vehicle will maintain the agility of the older vehicle with added power and safety features of a new vehicle.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The current vehicle will continue to be used with ageing parts and few safety features.
