RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a Purchase Order with Sharjo, Inc. (doing business as ServiceMaster Restoration Services), in an amount not to exceed $100,344 for the rental of High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) units and the purchase of HEPA filters for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

The fires that occurred in the fall of 2018 impacted CCRMC and the Contra Costa Health Centers severely, causing respiratory problems among staff and patients. ServiceMaster Restoration Services provided additional HEPA units and filters on an emergency basis so that the Health Services Department could remain open for patients.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved the Health Services Department will be unable to pay this vendor, which could result in legal action by the vendor and loss of the vendor’s services.
