RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Small Business Development Center, to apply for and accept City of Brentwood Economic Development Grant funding in an amount not to exceed $13,000 to provide advising, training, and outreach to Brentwood businesses for the period July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT:

County to recieve an amount not to exceed $13,000, from the City of Brentwood Economic Development Grant Program.

BACKGROUND:

Contra Costa Small Business Development Center will actively support economic development in the City of Brentwood by supporting staff on business outreach walks, attending events, and delivering in-person and online group trainings, and most crucially, individualized advising with overarching goals of business, job retention, new business start ups, increased revenues, debt/equity investments and job creation.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without grant funding, the Small Busisiness Development Center's advising, training, and outreach services to Brentwood businesses would be curtailed.
