RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Conservation and Development Director, or designee, to apply for and accept two grants from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) 2018 Climate Protection Grant program. One application will be for Reducing Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) from Existing Buildings, and the second, a joint application with the cities of San Pablo, Antioch, and Walnut Creek, as well as Sustainable Contra Costa and 511 Contra Costa, will be for Fostering Innovative Strategies with long-term impacts in reducing GHG emissions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact to the General Fund.
BACKGROUND:
In December 2015, the Board of Supervisors adopted a Climate Action Plan (CAP), which establishes goals for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while improving community health. The overall goals for the CAP are to reduce GHG emissions 15% below baseline by the year 2020.
