RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Philips Healthcare in the amount of $176,565 for the purchase of Philips MX40 Telemetry Units and peripheral devices for the telemetry system at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC).

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

The MX40’s will greatly expand the monitoring of capacity of patients at CCRMC by outfitting the entire ward with enough telemetry units to put every patient in the ward on one of the devices. The Telemetry Unit will be able to expand from 16 to 30 patients. This will result in patients being able to move about the ward, while still being monitored at the central station. Philips MX40’s are already in place and this will expand the capacity. This will enable CCRMC to provide an improved patient experience for telemetry patients.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, CCRMC will not be able to monitor all the patients, wirelessly (telemetrically), throughout the ward. Patients not on the Philips MX40 telemetry units will need to stay in bed with a stationary monitor.
