RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Arboricultural Specialties, Inc., dba The Professional Tree Care Company in an amount not to exceed $900,000 to provide on-call tree trimming services, for the period May 1, 2018 through April 30, 2021, Countywide. (100% General Fund)

FISCAL IMPACT:

This cost is to be funded through Facilities Services maintenance budget. (100% General Fund)

BACKGROUND:

Public Works Facilities Services Division is responsible for maintaining the grounds around County facilities. Tree maintenance and trimming are an important part of this maintenance. The County does not currently have enough staff to complete the amount of tree trimming required. Government Code Section 25358 authorizes the County to contract for maintenance and upkeep of County buildings if the County solicits bids for the work and awards the contract to the lowest responsible bidders. If approved, The Professional Tree Care Company will assist County staff in performing this maintenance. Government Code Section 25358 authorizes the County to contract for maintenance and upkeep of County facilities. This Contract was originally solicited and awarded through Bidsync #1712-269

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, tree trimming performed by The Professional Tree Care Company will be discontinued.
