RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve clarification of Board action of December 8, 2015 (C.83) which authorized an Interagency Agreement #72–019-1 with West Contra Costa Unified School District, (WCCUSD) a government agency, regarding implementation and coordination of the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Project in West Contra Costa County. This Board Order clarifies that the Agreement termination date should have stated June 30, 2020 instead of August 31, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Agreement is funded 100% Federal Department of Health and Human Services TPP Grant. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On December 8, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Interagency Agreement #72-019-1 with West Contra Costa Unified School District to implement a TPP with the goal to reduce teen birth rates among youth ages 15-19 years old who attend middle school or high school in West Contra Costa County, for the period from September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2020. However, the term should have read for the term of September 1, 2015 thought June 30, 2020. The purpose of this Board Order is to correct the termination date to end June 30, 2020 instead of August 31, 2020, and allow the Contractor to continue providing services to the TTP Project.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this correction is not approved, the contract will not be executed as was intended by the parties.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

This TPP program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcomes: “Children Ready For and Succeeding in School”; “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Healthy Adulthood”; and “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families”. Expected program outcomes include a decrease in the number of teenage pregnancies in West Contra Costa County.
