RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Auditor-Controller to issue a refund of overpayment of documentary transfer tax in the amount of $1,787.50 to Old Republic Title Company, 555 12th Street, Suite 2000, Oakland, CA, 94607 (Series # 2016-0016366), as recommended by the Clerk-Recorder.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This is a request to refund $1,787.50 of over-collected funds. Both the over-payment and reimbursement of documentary transfer tax are from fiscal year 2015-2016 General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The following party overpaid documentary transfer tax in the amount listed below : Old Republic Title Company, 555 12th Street, Suite 2000, Oakland, CA 94607.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to reimburse the party would cause them to pay more than legally required for documentary transfer tax.
