RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County Standard Agreement #28-850-2 (#15-10939) with the California Department of Public Health, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $1,138,035 for the County’s Public Health HIV Prevention Services Project, for the period from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2018.  
  

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this Agreement will result in an amount not to exceed $1,138,035 of funding from the California Department of Public Health. No County funds are required.  
  


BACKGROUND:

On September 10, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Agreement #28-850, (as amended by Standard Agreement Amendment #28-850-1) with California Department of Public Health for County’s HIV prevention services to Contra Costa County residents, for the period from July 1, 2013 through December 31, 2015, including continuing to indemnify and hold the State harmless for claims arising out of the County’s performance under the Agreement.  
  
Approval of Standard Agreement #28-850-2 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through December 31, 2018. The County agrees to continue to indemnify and hold the State harmless for claims arising out of the County’s performance under the Agreement.  
  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County will not receive the necessary funding to support the reduction in transmission of HIV prevention services that will reduce hospitalization and support to HIV positive individuals to live at home or allow for compliance with State and Federal requirements for reporting of communicable disease.
