RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute an amendment to the Purchase Order with Sharp Business Systems Inc., to add $32,000 for a new total payment limit of $131,000 to fund the fourth year on the lease of ten Sharp copiers that are located throughout nursing stations at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), with no change in the original term of December 12, 2012 through December 27, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

The original lease was for three years. After the first three years, the Department had the option to renew the lease. Nursing staff use these all in one copier, scanners and printers for patient care. They need to be able to print patient instructions during discharge, and information and documents needed for the doctor and other staff members to keep up on the patient’s progress.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order amendment is not approved, the nurses at the CCRMC would not be able to print the necessary papers for patients to be discharged home.
