RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or designee, to execute Agreement #16-0221-SA with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for regulatory inspections for the Organic Program and reimbursement in an amount not to exceed $5,100, for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017. (No County match of funds)
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement will provide revenue for the Department to fulfill the requirements of the agreement. Agreement is funded by the CA Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for an amount not to exceed $5,100. No county match of funds is required, nor does this involve grant money. This amount has been budgeted for the FY16/17 budget.
BACKGROUND:
The County Department of Agriculture enforces a variety of laws and regulations regarding the production and sale of agriculturally grown products. Agreement6 #16-0221-SA provides reimbursement of costs incurred in the enforcement of California Organic Foods Act (Chapter 10 of Division 17). Those functions of enforcement include registrations and amendments, spot inspections, soil and tissue sampling and compliant investigations.
