RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute (1) a Purchase Order with Direct Systems Support in the amount of $372,050 for the purchase of new Lenovo and IBM x3650 server hardware, and five years of associated support services, and (2) support services agreements with Lenovo, Inc., and International Business Machines Corporation for Lenovo and IBM x3650 server support for the period May 3, 2016 through May 2, 2021.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department (HSD) Information Technology (IT) Unit extensively uses Lenovo/IBM server hardware for the IT datacenter. Direct Systems Support is a third party authorized Lenovo/IBM reseller that HSD IT uses to procure servers and manage support services. Purchasing new server equipment will provide HSD IT with more processing power to accommodate additional Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) data and related software. Support for these new servers will provide Health Services IT with assistance if any defects are detected or issues occur.
