RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Participation Agreement # 26-796 with the Leland Standard Junior University, an education institution, to allow Contra Costa Regional Medical Center to participate in a collaborative to improve perinatal health care in California, for the period from March 1, 2015 through February 28, 2018.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This is a non-financial agreement.












BACKGROUND:

The purpose of the collaboration is to improve the quality and outcomes of perinatal health care in California through: a) development of a responsive, real time, statewide material and perinatal data system, b) taking advantage of existing core State and front-end maternal and perinatal data systems, c) improvement in accuracy of the data collected for documenting and reporting on maternal and infant health and the provision of maternity care services, d) Development of a collaborating network of public and private obstetric and neonatal providers, insurers, public health professionals and business groups to supports a system for benchmarking and continue performance improvement activities for perinatal care.  
  
Approval of Participation Agreement #26-796 will allow County to participate in a collaborative to improve perinatal health care in California, through February 28, 2018.   
  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this agreement is not approved, County will not be able to participate and take advantage of statewide data systems improving the accuracy of perinatal health care at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
