RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-883-24 with Rodney Chan, D.P.M., a self-employed individual, effective May 1, 2015, to amend Contract #26-883-22, (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-883-23) to increase the payment limit by $5,000, from $315,000 to a new payment limit of $320,000, with no change in the original term of June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On June 25, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-883-22 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-883-23) with Rodney Chan, D.P.M., for the provision of podiatry clinic services and surgical procedures at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2015. At the time of negotiations, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the utilization during the term of the agreement was higher than originally anticipated. At the request of the County, Contractor has agreed to provide additional podiatry services.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-883-24 will allow the Contractor to provide additional podiatry services at CCRMC through May 31, 2015.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring podiatry services at CCRMC will not have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the levels of service to the community.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
