RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Resolution No. 2015/137 accepting as complete the construction contract work performed by R & R Design and Construction Corporation for the relocation of the Sheriff's Records Unit to 2530 Arnold Drive, Martinez.

DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to file with the County Recorder a certified copy of Resolution No. 2015/137 and the attached Notice of Completion no later than fifteen (15) days after adoption.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no direct fiscal impact resulting from the adoption of the Resolution of Acceptance and Notice of Completion, but the adoption and recording will limit the period for filing stop payment notices and bond claims on this contract.

BACKGROUND:

The Sheriff's Office Records Unit needed to be moved from its currently leased location at 500 Court Street, Martinez, to County-owned 2530 Arnold Drive, Suites 170 and 190, Martinez. The project scope included interior architectural and electrical improvements, and modifications such as wall additions and alterations, painting, floor covering, doors and hardware, lighting, low voltage and related work.

On September 16, 2014, the County entered into a construction contract with R & R Design and Construction Corporation for the subject project. The above contract has been completed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. It is recommended that the work covered by the contract be accepted by adopting a Resolution of Acceptance and Notice of Completion (Resolution No. 2015/137). The project acceptance includes a withhold amount of $6,500 to ensure the completion of project closeout items.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Accepting a contract as complete is standard procedure and allows for proper closeout of the contract. If the above contract is not accepted as complete, the period for filing stop payment notices and bond claims may be extended.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
