RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Denalect, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $350,000 to provide alarm monitoring services at various County facilities, for the period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024, Countywide.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Facilities Maintenance Budget. (100% General Fund)

BACKGROUND:

Public Works Facilities Services is responsible for electronic system (alarm) monitoring in County buildings. Denalect, Inc., is the County’s standard for this type of monitoring, and all alarmed buildings currently have Denalect equipment and are monitored 24 hours a day via phone lines and radio transmission. Government Code Section 31000 authorizes the County to contract for special services for building security matters. Denalect, Inc., will be able to request rate increases of three percent, on each anniversary of the effective date of this Contract.

The contract will have a term of three (3) years with the option of two (2) one-year extensions and will pay for services according to the rates set forth in the contract. Facilities Services is requesting a contract with Denalect, Inc., to be approved for a period covering three years.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, alarm monitoring services with Denalect, Inc., will be discontinued.
