RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a Purchase Order with Beckman Coulter, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000 for the purchase of reagents and supplies for the clinical laboratory at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) for the period from May 15, 2021 through May 14, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This purchase order will result in expenditures of up to $1,500,000 and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.

BACKGROUND:

The CCRMC Clinical Laboratory uses Beckman Coulter, Inc. for reagents that are needed to perform routine testing on patient samples in the clinical laboratory. Monthly billing is for various tests done and replenishment of supplies as well as monthly lease(s) on analyzer.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, the CCRMC Clinical Laboratory will not have access to this contractor's specific patient testing supplies, thus impacting patient safety and health.
