The purpose of this agreement is to provide San Jose State University, Department of Occupational Therapy, students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefiting from the students’ services to patients. The County’s Health Services Department has been contracting with San Jose State University, Department of Occupational Therapy since July 1, 1998.
On April 9, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved contract #26-119-13 with San Jose State University, Department of Occupational Therapy for the provision of clinical field experience and instruction from County’s Health Services Department for the period from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021.
Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-119-14 will allow San Jose State University, Department of Occupational Therapy California, students to receive supervised fieldwork instruction and experience at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers, through June 30, 2023.
If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive clinical field experience and instruction at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers.
