RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Public Works Director, a purchase order amendment, with Jon K Takata Corp d/b/a Restoration Management Company, to increase the payment limit by $37,000 to a new payment limit of $135,000 for mold abatement and repair at 1391 Shell Ave, Martinez Area. (100% Health Services Enterprise Fund)

FISCAL IMPACT:

This cost is to be funded through the Health Services Fund org 5739. (100% General Fund)

BACKGROUND:

In October 2017, the Contra Costa County facility at 1391 Shell Avenue in Martinez was found to contain mold around it’s entire perimeter. Restoration Management was called out to abate the area and give us a quote on reconstruction of all damaged areas. The mold remediation and reconstruction has been estimated at $135k. Facility Services is requesting a not to exceed purchase order to complete this project.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this agreement is not approved, then mold abatement at 1391 Shell Ave will discontinue.
