BACKGROUND:

The National Campaign for Victims' Rights led to President Ronald Reagans reforms on behalf of crime victims, his declaration of the first National Crime Victims' Rights Week, victims' rights legislation and victim services. National Crime Victims' Rights Week offers an opportunity to renew and strengthen our partnerships and teamwork, and to highlight the collaborative approaches that are integral to the U.S. Department of Justice's mission. Through partnerships, organizations can mobilize their experience, skills, resources, and stakeholders to help plan a powerful strategy to provide direct services to crime victims.
