RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #23-617 with Contra Costa County Office of Education, an educational institution, to provide supervised field instruction at various Health Services Department facilities for students, for the period from April 18, 2017 through December 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Non-financial agreement.

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this agreement is to provide students at Contra Costa County Office of Education with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefiting from the students’ services to patients.

Under Unpaid Student Training Agreement #23-617, Contra Costa County Office of Education students will receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at various Health Services Department facilities through December 31, 2017.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this agreement is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at various Health Services Department facilities.
