RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD), to execute a purchase order with Integrated Archive Systems in the amount not to exceed $1,014,547 to procure the following computer equipment: 80 Cisco 3850 switches, 14 Cisco 4451 routers and 9 Cisco 4351 routers. This equipment will allow EHSD to replace old computer equipment at all of the department's major sites for the period of April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018. (10% County; 48% State; 42% Federal)

FISCAL IMPACT:

$1,014,547: 100% Administrative Overhead (10% County; 48% State; 42% Federal)

BACKGROUND:

In 2016, Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) had an independent network assessment of the department's network and it was determined that over half of the department's network infrastructure was either End of Life or End of Service equipment. This purchase will enable EHSD to replace old equipment at major sites. By replacing this equipment, EHSD will reduce the likelihood of a network outage which could produce a service interruption to the department's customers.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Employment and Human Services Department will not be able to replace End of Life or End of Service network computer equipment at major sites.
