RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74-488-2 with Minh Nguyen, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $174,720, to provide outpatient psychiatric care services to patients in West County for the period from April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, the Department may incur contractual expenses of up to $174,720 during the proposed contract period, which would be funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On March 29, 2016, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-488-1 with Ming Nguyen, M.D., for the period from April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017, to provide outpatient psychiatric care services; including diagnosing, counseling, evaluating, and providing medical and therapeutic treatment to County patients.

Approval of Contract #74-488-2 will allow Contractor to continue providing services, through March 31, 2018.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to Contractor’s psychiatric care services.
