RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #22-137-48 with Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services, a non-profit corporation, effective April 1, 2015, to amend Contract #22-137-47, to increase the payment limit by $18,640, from $301,282 to a new payment limit of $319,922 with no change in the original term of July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, and to increase the automatic extension amount by $4,659 from $75,321 to $79,980, with no change in the term of the automatic extension, through September 30, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Title III-C2 of the Older Americans Act of 1965. (No rate increase)  








BACKGROUND:

On July 29, 2014, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #22-137-47 with Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services for the period from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2015, for the provision of home-delivered meals for the Senior Nutrition Program, including modifications to County’s standard indemnification clause and General Conditions. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #22-137-48 will allow the Contractor to provide additional services through June 30, 2015.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, County’s homebound senior citizens will not receive Senior Nutrition Program meals, which provide at least one third of their daily nutrition.
