RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and Authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the District Attorney's office, to execute a Purchase Order with Downtown Ford of Sacramento for a new vehicle in an amount not to exceed $31,000.00. This vehicle will be used to provide investigative services to the Auto Insurance Fraud Unit.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This vehicle is 100% funded by the Auto Insurance Fraud grant.

BACKGROUND:

One of the Sr. Inspectors in the Auto Insurance Fraud unit had been driving a vehicle on loan to us by Allstate Insurance Company. That vehicle was no longer serviceable and was returned to Allstate. Since then, the inspector has been using a rental car at an extremely high monthly cost. The purchase of this new vehicle will allow us to eliminate the rental.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The District Attorney's Office will be unable to execute the purchase order with Sacramento Ford.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
