RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Department Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with the Regents of the University of California, Davis to increase the payment limit by $88,875 to a new payment limit of $412,380, for eligibility, employment, adult services, and general leadership training, for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$412,380: 16% State; 84% Federal (CFDA# 93.658, Department of Health and Human Services #93.778; Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service #10.561; Head Start; CFDA #93.558; Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

EHSD will be unable to pay for services through contract term.

BACKGROUND:

Training provided by the University of California (UC) Davis to Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) meets State regulations that allow public institutions of higher education to provide in-kind match funding equal to the California Welfare Department's share of costs, resulting in no expense to the County, and a higher skilled, more informed staff.
