Referral History:

The IOC reviews nominations made by the Hazardous Materials Commission for appointments all Commission seats except the City seats. Seat terms are four years.

Despite several solicitations for nominations, the Environmental #2 Alternate seat has been vacant since 2010. Nominations for this seat are to come from environmental organizations within the county.

Referral Update:

Attached is a memo from the Hazardous Materials Ombudsman seeking approval of the nomination of Peter Dragovich by the Martinez Environmental Group. All supporting documents are attached for reference.

Because there is less than 25% of the term left and the seat has been so difficult to fill, staff recommends appointment to complete the remainder of the current term and also to a new four-year term, the total time being 4 years and 9 months.

Recommendation(s)/Next Step(s):

APPROVE the nomination of Peter Dragovich (Martinez) to the Environmental #2 Alternate seat on the Hazardous Materials Commission to complete the unexpired term ending on December 31, 2015 and to a new term ending on December 31, 2019.
