Referral History:

At the February 6, 2023 Los Medanos Healthcare Operations Committee meeting the chair requested staff to provide information on the source of funding for the Los Medanos Health Area Grant Program.

Referral Update:

Contra Costa Health staff continues to work with and support the Los Medanos Health Advisory Committee in the development of a long-term grant program. The funding for the grant program comes from the former Los Medanos Community Healthcare District’s share of the 1% ad valorem property tax, which now flows to the County following dissolution of the District. The ad valorem property tax applies only to those parcels that fall within the boundaries of the former District.

Recommendation(s)/Next Step(s):

Committee Staff will continue to provide updates on the amount of collected property taxes and how the funds are used for Los Medanos Health Area Grants.
