RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff, or designee, to execute a contract with the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) to provide law enforcement services to AC Transit in an amount not to exceed to $2,926,766 for the period from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funded by the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District.

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff provides law enforcement services for the Alameda – Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) for the protection of the facilities, bus stops, equipment, employees, and patrons. The Office of the Sheriff responds to incidents occurring onboard AC Transit buses, at bus stops, and other AC Transit properties within Contra Costa County as set forth in the contract.  
  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Negative action by the Board would result in the Sheriff's Office not being authorized to execute the contract for law enforcement services to AC Transit.
