RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Counsel, or designee, to execute, on behalf of Contra Costa County, a contract for specialized professional services with Karen Kramer doing business as Kramer Workplace Investigations.
FISCAL IMPACT:

Services will be billed at the hourly rate of $325 per hour for legal and investigatory services and $400 per hour for testimony.  
  
BACKGROUND:

County Counsel assists County departments with workplace investigations, preparing for anticipated litigation, and providing legal advice. Karen Kramer has specialized expertise in the area of employment law and litigation. It is anticipated that the services of Kramer Workplace Investigations will be of assistance to the County Counsel in the County’s workplace investigations.  
  
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The County will be unable to obtain the firm’s services.
