RECOMMENDATION(S):

ACCEPT Resolution No. 2021/98 to approve and authorize the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with California Department of Aging to increase the payment limit by $379,964 to a new payment limit of $5,557,253 with no change in the term of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

County to receive $5,557,253, which includes Agreement AP-2021-07 Amendment 1 in the amount of $379,964, from the California Department of Aging. Funding is 20% State and 80% Federal. A match of $651,584 is required; $191,850 is met by the County and $459,734 is met by subcontractors.

BACKGROUND:

The Employment and Human Services Department, Area Agency on Aging, provides services to County residents 60 years and older as defined by Title IIIB, Title IIID, Title IIIE and Title VII of the Older American Act. Services include, but are not limited to supportive services, ombudsman services, congregate meal sites, home delivered meals, disease prevention, family caregiver services, and elder abuse prevention services. Funding through this amendment will be allocated to existing subcontractors. Under the terms of this amendment, funds will be used to either enhance service delivery or purchase equipment.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without funding, Older American Act services could not be provided.
