RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 25700 to increase the hours of one (1) part-time (20/40) Deputy Public Defender III (25TB) (represented) position number 13525 at salary plan and grade JD5 2146 ($11,614.41 - $14,832.09) to full time (40/40) and cancel one (1) vacant part-time (20/40) Deputy Public Defender III (25TB) (represented) position number 13524 in the Office of the Public Defender.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The current costs of these posiitons are included in the department's budget.

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Public Defender is requesting this position adjustment to increase the hours of one part time Deputy Public Defender III position from 20/40 hours to 40/40 hours so the incumbent can be assigned additional cases. The increase of hours will be offset by deletion of one vacant 20/40 Deputy Public Defender III, resulting in no change to cost.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this request is not approved, the Public Defender will not be able to increase the hours of the incumbent and it may be difficult for the incumbent to take on additional cases working less hours.
