RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #76-579-4 with Jamal Julian Zaka, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $235,000 to provide pulmonology services to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers patients, for the period April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

On February 26, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-579-2 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #76-579-3) with Jamal Julian Zaka, M.D., to provide pulmonology services, including but not limited to clinical coverage, consultation, training and on-call services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from April 1, 2019 through March 31, 2020.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #76-579-4 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide pulmonology services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers through March 31, 2021.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring pulmonology services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers will not have access to the Contractor’s services.
