RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Fire Chief, or designee, to apply for and execute a grant agreement with the U. S. Department of Homeland Security, California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP), in an amount not to exceed $80,000, for the purchase of thermal imager cameras.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There may be a 25% local agency match requirement. The fiscal requirements will be determined after awards have been made.

BACKGROUND:

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District received approval to apply for and accept funding from the State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) for three separate items on the January 16, 2018 meeting, agenda item C1. The SHSGP program requires a separate board approval for each item. This request is for the third item:

3) Eight thermal imager cameras. If awarded, these devises would be used to replace older thermal imager cameras on primary rescue and fire response apparatus.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The District would not be able to take advantage of this funding opportunity.
