RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74–424-5 with David A. Schwartz, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $145,600 to provide outpatient psychiatric services, for the period from May 1, 2016 through April 30, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% Mental Health Realignment. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On April 21, 2015 the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-424-4 with David A. Schwartz, M.D., for the period from May 1, 2015 through April 30, 2016 for the provision of outpatient psychiatric services for adults in Central Contra Costa County. Approval of Contract #74-424-5 will allow Contractor to continue providing services through April 30, 2017.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, clients requiring psychiatric services will not have access to Contractor’s services.
