RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #24-403-15 with Jon Whalen, M.D., an individual, effective April 1, 2016, to amend Contract #24-403-14, to increase the payment limit by $176,000, from $300,800 to a new payment limit of $476,800 with no change in the original term of February 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 50% by Mental Health Realignment Funds and 50% Federal Financial Participation. (No rate increase)




BACKGROUND:

On December 8, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-403-14 with Jon Whalen, M.D., for the provision of professional outpatient psychiatric services, including acting on behalf of the County as the Mental Heath Director for Behavioral Health, for the period from February 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017.  
  
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #24-403-15 will allow Contractor to provide additional hours of outpatient psychiatric services through January 31, 2017.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not receive additional outpatient psychiatric services.
