BACKGROUND:

The Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Advisory Committee was established by the Board of Supervisors in November 2009 to advise the Board regarding the protection and enhancement of public health, County resources, and the environment related to pest control methods employed by County departments. The IPM Committee has eight voting members as follows: two ex-officio members (Health Services Department and County/Unincorporated County Storm Water Program) and six public members (one Public and Environmental Health Advisory Board representative, one County Fish and Wildlife Committee representative, one Environmental Organizations representative, and three At Large appointees); plus one Public Member Alternate seat. Large and Alternate seats reviewed by the Internal Operations Committee have recently been extended from two to four years at the direction of the IOC.

On December 31, 2015, the terms of the At Large #1 and #3, and the Public Member Alternate seats expired. On February 29, the IOC conducted a group interview of seven candidates and is recommending appointment of three candidates. Attached is a summary of the IPM Roster effective 1/5/16 and the applications of all candidates who were considered by the IOC.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Should the Board elect not to approve the appointments, then the general public will not be adequately represented on the IPM Advisory Committee.
