RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, Small Business Development Center, to apply for and accept City of Brentwood Economic Development Grant funds in an amount not to exceed $15,000 for advising and training services to current and aspiring business owners for the period July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

County to receive an amount not to exceed $15,000 from the City of Brentwood Economic Development Grant. No County match.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Brentwood has made grant funding available from tax revenues set aside to target economic development for the explicit purpose of business promotion and institutional advertisement for the City of Brentwood. Economic Development Grant funds are available to fund public events, projects, programs, and other activities to promote the entire City of Brentwood rather than a specific business. Projects are required to align with the current City Council Strategic Plan. The Small Business Development Center will use funding to provide advising and training services to current and aspiring business owners.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without funding, the Workforce Development Board, Small Business Development Center, could not provide advising and training services to current and aspiring business owners.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
