RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with the Town of Moraga, including mutual indemnification, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $875,000 to provide police dispatching services and limited warrant services, effective April 1, 2015, for the period July 1, 2012 through December 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No net County cost. $875,000 revenue over five and one-half years.

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff will provide police dispatching services, limited to law enforcement activity for the Town of Moraga. Services will include dispatching, call-taking, sending and receiving voice and data traffic, answering emergency (911) calls and warrant checks to aid the the town's Police Department.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to approve this contract will result in the inability of the Sheriff's Office to provide the Town of Moraga with adequate 911 Dispatcher Services resulting in a safety concern for the community, reduced revenue for the Office of the Sheriff and the County General Fund.
